The 18-person MDSCAA Board meets 8 times annually and is divided into 3 types of representatives:
Elected (public) Sector
Consists of local elected public officials (like mayors or city/county commissioners) or their designated representatives.
Ensures governmental alignment, legal compliance, and coordination with municipal resources.
Provides official institutional connection to local governing bodies.
Private Sector
Drawn from major community stakeholders like local businesses, industry, labor, religious groups, and civic organizations.
Brings business acumen, resource mobilization capacity, and community networks.
Helps build job opportunities and private partnerships for low-income residents
Low-Income Consumer
Composed of residents who live in the service area and are democratically selected to represent low-income individuals and families.
Gives direct voice, lived perspective, and active participation to the populations affected by poverty.
