Mindful Parenting Series

The MDSCAA Early Childhood Program would like to invite parents, grandparents, guardians and all others raising children to a 5-week series that digs into Conscious Discipline.

Conscious Discipline is a social-emotional learning and behavior guidance approach created by Dr. Becky Bailey. It draws on brain science, child development, and trauma-informed practice.

The central idea is that adults have to manage their own emotional state before they can help a child manage theirs. Instead of relying on rewards, punishments, or time-outs, it treats misbehavior as a chance to teach skills like calming down, expressing needs, and solving problems. Connection and feeling safe come first, because a child who is upset or afraid can't learn much until their nervous system settles.

Events will be held at the Early Childhood Centers of Escanaba, Manistique and Menominee. Dinner and childcare will be provided during the series. Please RSVP by noon the day prior to the event.
